This work was designed for an exhibition with the theme, “WA”.
The motif is a waterbird-shaped Haniwa in the middle of the Kofun period.
It was believed that Aquatic Bird Haniwa carried and guided the souls of the mound tomb.
They all seem to look realistic with their free and calm expression. Almost as if they could turn around.
(The Haniwa are unglazed pottery characteristic of the Kofun period in Japan.)
